HERBAL & BOTANICAL MEDICINE
Herbal extractions are commonly thought of as vastly different from conventional medications, but we forget that these medicines usually originate from the same natural plant origins. And while pharmacological medications tend to be accompanied by adverse side-effects, taking a holistic approach and using the entire plant actually has beneficial side effects (such as providing us with fibre, vitamins and minerals).
While herbal and botanical medicine has broad application to general health and wellbeing, it is also effective in treating and prevention of the following:
- Arthritis
- Anxiety and depression
- Poor sleep
- Herpes
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Tinnitus
- Fatigue
- Hormone imbalance
- Pain and much more
Patients are often surprised at the medical utility of common herbs, as well as the fact that they act on many of the same pathways as prescription medications. It is for this latter reason that care must always be taken in initiating herbal treatment – especially when used in conjunction with existing medications.
